The election of 2008 has held many speed bumps for not only the candidates, but the voters in the election cycle as well. The most haunting of which is the public perception of presidential hopeful Barrack Obama, the democrat Senator from the State of Illinois. His affiliation with the attendance of the notorious Trinitarian United Church of Christ; Dr. Jeremiah Wright who held a press conference bloviating before the National Press Club in Washington DC yesterday about comments and alleged criticisms that level him as a liar and hypocrite. He defended his position regarding his military experience saying "I served six years in the military," adding "Does that make me patriotic? Engaging is a little subterfuge he threw in "How many years did (Vice President Dick) Cheney serve?” This writer asserts firmly that Oliver Stone served in Vietnam, but his war movies and political views don't make him anymore patriotic... more idiotic in reality, so why should we lower our standard to suit his claims?
Many would-be Obama supporters have fell off at the wayside because they rightfully feel just a little betrayed as the Obama Joy Juice started running a little low after the revelation of his statements tended to start digging in. Look, I know liberals tend to adopt the victim card as well and tend to adapt self flagellation as an outward expression of their anti-American social views projected at their global constituents as white flag of sorts… but come on – this is the height of tedium. Hillary Clinton supporters are the old guard neo-socialists and won’t budge from their support of her because she hasn’t had the blunders he has. His failure to distance himself from this leftist agitator is as egregious as it is stupendous. His so-called retraction wasn’t really detraction at all but highly frosted sophistry in the end, claiming he could no more disown the pastor than he could family [loosely paraphrased]. As we get closer and closer to August when the democrats will be holding their convention in Colorado, they are faced with a serious issue. He continues to attract serious donors, but equally [of late] is repelling them at a greater rate. His poll numbers have slid over points in national polls over this very same issue – So [one would ask], why is this not going away?
For starters one cannot even approach this issue from the stand point of being objective if one cannot be at least being:
• Intellectually Honest.
• Reasonable.
• Respectful of moral clarity [even if not religious per se]
If not, one will have a hard time paring why people are so offended by the man and his noisome and inflammatory rhetoric. In order to know clearly where he has fallen short of the standard, one would need to have knowledge of the Scripture to know where the reverend has fallen short of the standard and where the responsibility of clergy and Church elders would be in matter such as this and where the standard for accountability would be in matters of this gravity. If one is ignorant of such, then one will be guided by feelings or something not consistent with those values and will not understand why people are so upset and feel so betrayed. Reverend Wright has violated many scriptural mandates and is clearly laying out a thumb print more consistent of an apostate over that of a responsible Bible trained and accredited pastor.
“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge[of God’s Word]. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you from being priest for Me; Because you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children." - Hosea 4:6
As I had alluded to earlier in this article, the only way to objectively look at what he is doing wrong is to know what he should be doing. This pastor has violated some pretty basic tenets of the Word he is supposed to be upholding, mainly:
Dr. Wright’s profession that there is a "Black Church" therefore there are different values to be expressed, against what the Bible declares is the truth about our Christian walk and service:
"endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith[system of belief], one baptism[public profession of faith]; one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all." - Ephesians. 4:3-6
Rev. Wright has no scriptural basis for his assertions there and is in complete rebellion against the Scriptures and social positions he claims he upholds. He seems to believe there are two churches, one black and then everything else. He is no better than Al Gore; he makes a living on fear and separatist rhetoric.
His continued defaming and attacking our leaders and system of government:
"and especially those who walk according to the flesh in the lust of uncleanness and despise authority. They are presumptuous, self-willed. They are not afraid to speak evil of dignitaries," - 2 Peter 2:10
Again, here is a highlighting of the behavior he is engaging in, knowing as a follower of Christ we are to be respectful of those who are in authority over us, it does not mean we have to blindly agree with everything that happens but [Our 1st. Amendment right], God put those people over [right or wrong] for a reason... and are to be civil is any disagreeance, that's what the polls are for. To be frank, I could keep listing many deviancies Dr. Wright had willfully and openly committed in the pursuit of his apparently indoctrination philosophies. His so-called church in appearing to be nothing more than a bully-pulpit for his separatist ideologies, which makes me wonder why we haven't heard of Angela Davis attending to be honest. Obama has not done enough to declare a clear line from Dr. Wright's ignominious saber rattling rhetoric to quell the rumblings of a clearly despondent constituency of his, he owes them that in the least and hasn't made good on it.
Barrack Obama was billed by his entrenched gate-keeping pit-bulls in the main stream media as the first serious post-black presidential candidate; he has made a veritable omelet of the egg still being wiped from their faces. Until he fesses up and admits he lives for his skin color, and won't part with it, he won't get much more support from democrat voters over 35 with a half ounce of left-brained acuity still with them. He has done nothing more than toy with their affections and the Jedi Mind-Trick will eventually wear off. This will leave a very fire retardant Hillary Clinton to scrape together what's left of her support of galvanize the troops and maybe get an unofficial nod for the popular vote because she still may not get the electoral votes needed to win the actual nomination. These so-called Super Delegates pledged to do the will of the people, but we know what that means... basically who ever the anointed one is, will get the remaining delegates in their tightly knit race.
In the end, Barrack Obama has not done enough to synthesize the respect of more cynical voters in his own camp and this is causing a backlash between the DNC and the remaining unpledged Super Delegates, until he comes clean... his relationship will appear to look more like that of Darth Vader being the understudy of the evil Emperor Palpatine... than merely a candidate and his loving, caring and compassionate pastor.
